Bluebeard

I'm studying a semester at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest, Hungary. Right now I'm in the middle of a course where we design characters and bg's for a chosen tale. These pics are different stages of character development from that course. Out of three options I chose Knight Bluebeard, that I wasn't familiar with before. We don't go so far as to animate these, the focus is on finding a new interesting graphic world, that is true to our own style.
EDIT: some bg's added
"you need to push it more"

"simplify it!"

bluebeard turned out a bit more symphatetic from the dark lord stage. sure he killed his seven previous wives and keeps their bodies in a secret room but I'm sure he had some reason that we can all understand?

Shadow Warden

It has been some time now since wrapping up the biggest project by far in my studies. Inspired by the mayans, apocalypse, shadow and light, with our class (16 students, plus 4 hardworking programming students) we were able to come out with a two-player game for Kinect.

During the ten weeks that we had, I did some early concept art, drawings for a 2D opening animation and sculpting of the game assets like the statuehead above. Having played piano back in the year two, I also did some weird improvisations with a keyboard for the opening animation. Just because it was so much fun I continued playing with that recording in Soundbooth.

face study

Because David Strathairn.
In "Das Experiment" there's this scene where a hard neon light falls on Moritz Bleibtreus face in the dark and I got fascinated by his face.

Isn't Carey Mulligan just the cutest thing ever?

Shared Gems

I got persuaded to take part in an event where you develop a game in 48 hours. I joined the team with two other artists, an audio guy, a programmer and a producer. The text-based Flash game we made sets in a steampunkish world, in a shop where a lousy inturn meets with customers and tries to fulfill their needs, most of the time failing miserably. I've never drawn so much in such a little time.

Streetfight

I wanted to capture movement. Is her right hand missing a knife? Man, that's brutal.

Applying

Above is my design for a 'Helsinki Design Capital 2012' poster.

Preassignments for Degree Programme in Media at Helsinki Metropolia University (specialisation in 3D animation and visualisation).
1. Caries robots - design the future of dental care
2. Illustrate an old Finnish folkstory of a woodchopper, use image sequences, two pages, no words

Robots I modeled in 3dsMax, which was an adventurous 3 weeks for me. Apart from the transparent tongue, and the bit that is missing from the horses behind, I am quite happy with the results. And I got accepted!
