Keep it low-poly
This is my first rigged character: the birdman! I had so much fun trying different poses. Hours could pass.
(Good unwrapping practise too)
Still image basics
At school we are learning the basics of 3d graphics. We designed a hotel room and two different sets of lighting for it. The gold pattern/decoration on the left wall and the carpet I made with procedural textures. Rendered with Mental Ray and some postwork in PS.
It's not a microwave, it's a TV!
Cyborg
This was my second major personal project at 3d modeling. I own a thousand thanks to 3d-palace and their tutorials. At the time I didn't have a clue about adjusting the lighting (or texturing for that matter) and you can see some ugly jigsaw shadow lines. Too many polygons, no smoothing, weird solutions... At least I learned a lot. And sculpting the face was fun.

Applying
Above is my design for a 'Helsinki Design Capital 2012' poster.
Preassignments for Degree Programme in Media at Helsinki Metropolia University (specialisation in 3D animation and visualisation).
1. Caries robots - design the future of dental care
2. Illustrate an old Finnish folkstory of a woodchopper, use image sequences, two pages, no words
Robots I modeled in 3dsMax, which was an adventurous 3 weeks for me. Apart from the transparent tongue, and the bit that is missing from the horses behind, I am quite happy with the results. And I got accepted!
